After Sapa I spent another day in Hanoi then I took a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. I still think I did not planned the trip to the south well enough. I am afraid I did not enjoy the south of Vietnam as I did in the North.
I had a different idea about Ho Chi Minh City, I was surprised by its wide and long avenues and also the luxurious shops of the most famous and expensive western brands.
I felt a bit lost in Ho Chi Minh City without knowing where to go. I took a pedicab tour but I did not find enough inspiration for taking pictures.
It seemed that most of the tours were about the war, I had no interest in checking the Cu Chi network of tunnels built and used by the Vietnamese during the war with the Americans, I was looking for photo opportunities… Well, I missed them or they missed me.
During the pedicab tour I was taken to several places and I could not avoid the ones related to the war.
Not everything was about the war but was too similar to what can be found in the western world and also I was running a bit too late to find the places still open to visitors.
I found even more bikes in Ho Chi Minh City than in Hanoi… Millions!
To be honest I got a bit fed up with Ho Chi Minh City and I decided to go on a tour to the Mekong Delta and cities near the border with Cambodia. Please, see my next post.
